New journal style! Yay! This has been very long overdue. Haven't really made the most of S2's fantabulously simple journal modification page -- an absolute gift for HTML-incompetent fucktards such as myself -- but at least got as far as renaming some stuff. Brill.
Promise I'll post something more resembling fic soon! I am working on things. Loads of things. Sirius/Regulus is taking precedence at the moment, but there's also some Sirius/James because, really, when is there not? They're my default pairing, and I still haven't written my definitive S/J story: that one perfect variation that illustrates exactly how I imagine their relationship.
Oh, and Anthony won BB6. I think a little bit of my soul died. This is a man quoted as saying, "I am more developed than a plant." I say: Don't underestimate plants. Learn to photosynthesize and THEN we'll talk.

Am writing Blaise!fic. It had to be done.
Anyway, I was looking through my fic folder, and I realised that I have finished probably about 5% of everything that is in there. Maybe less. My completed/posted ratio is pretty much 1 : 1, if you exclude the anomalous Sirius/Remus ficlet that still sits there, taunting me with its rubishness. My problem is that I get a ton of ideas, and I start writing them ALL; but I am very impatient and easily distracted and I do not handle writers' block very well, so most of them just sit there, truncated and stagnating. Which is a shame, because some of them I do actually LIKE.
Is this just me? Does everybody have a huge stack o' random, or am I particularly unproductive? Would be interested to know! Tell me YOUR writing process. Mine is fairly crude: I start something, and if I don't finish it THERE AND THEN (or, within a window of about a week), it is usually lost for ever.
Is it maybe time for another 'clean out your WIP closet' day?

Feeling so much better. Just read through this fabulous collection of quotes, compiled by
tyrell, but my favourite absolutely has to be:
To quote an old Londoner who lived through the blitz and got caught up in the Canary Wharf explosion: "I've been blown up by a better class of bastard than this!" from
muskrat_john
Good to see the dry British wit is still as cutting as ever! Foolish terrorists; you will never dampen our chipper spirits! We refuse to make a spectacle of ourselves in public and will defiantly continue to talk about the awful weather, and what a frightful shame it is that no-one bombed that damned Millennium Dome.
*gives all my fellow Brits a jolly good pat on the back*

Weird, weird day. Woke up late, and only heard the news at about noon. Frantically called all my friends in London to make sure they were OK -- but it was impossible to get through. Luckily no-one close to me has been affected. It's all anyone has been talking about -- everyone has friends or relatives in London that they've been trying to get hold of, and at least a handful of my close friends were planning to go into London themselves this morning. THANK GOD they didn't.
It's been so heartening reading through the ol' friends list. Your concern and sympathy is so appreciated. We've been expecting this since 9/11, to be honest, but I don't think anything can prepare you for how frightening it is when your homeland is actually hit. I live less than an hour away from London, and it's just all too close to home. You always think your home country/city/town/village is untouchable, and that idea's been pretty much shattered.
All those affected by today's events -- and by the Madrid bombings and by 9/11 -- all my heart goes out to you.

Hello again! Realise I have been AWOL for a while; things got a bit hectic, and then, inadvertantly, I found myself stumbling back into my old fandom and mooching around there for a while. I seem to go through phases.
Anyway, my love for this fandom hit me full-force upon reading
fleshdress's soul-destroyingly brilliant Local God, which, if you haven't already read (I was very late to the party) I command you to go and read NOW. It's the kind of fic that makes me want to hang up my writing hat, because it has captured the dynamic so perfectly (in a dark, fucked-up kind of way) that really, writing anything else would be superfluous.
That brings me (in a roundabout fashion) to the main point of this post: does anyone know of a masterlist of Sirius/James stories -- or something of the like? I am getting serious OTP withdrawal.
Enable me, good people!

My love of Remus/Sirius
2002-2005
This makes me very sad. R/S used to be my OTP OMG!!1 with all the capitals and exclamation marks and everything. But then--then I started dabbling in Sirius/James and now...*sob*... now I can't even read puppy fic! Not even by my favouritest writers! I just can't believe in it any more. Except that that's not entirely true. PoA-era Remus/Sirius I can totally see. Marauder R/S, though, not AT ALL. And this makes me sad, because there's so much good stuff out there whereas finding J/S fic is like looking for diamonds in a... a better analogy.
MOVING ON.
Still working my way through the ficlet requests. Yes, really.

Woo! I wrote one! I had these great ideas for the James/Remus and James/Regulus fics (both fabulously angsty) but then my brain was HIJACKED by this. They're characters I've never written before, and ones that I never ever intended to write ever but I just--I had no choice! Also, I want to preface this by saying that the style is--I'll call it 'experimental'. But don't be put off! Or do, because it's also het. Right. Well, if anyone hasn't been sufficiently disturbed by all these ominous statements to have run screaming from the computer, let me know what you think!

It's probably a bit naff to do this (and to use the word 'naff'), but I really want to say thank you to everyone for all your wonderful comments about ballad. Really. I'm never quite sure how to respond to feedback, and some of the things you lot said absolutely floored me. So for all those who left beautiful, eloquent comments and received back from me a pitiful one-liner ending in a smiley face: I'm sorry, I'm hopeless, but THANK YOU. God, I cannot even express how much. I have seen comment graphics of my journal style that I didn't even know EXISTED! I'm not sure that that sentence made any grammatical sense, but you get my drift. See? I am woefully inarticulate.
Anyway, I'd like to show my gratitude a little more ardently (plus I feel like writing) so give me a pairing and an idea/word/theme and I will write it. I realise that the statistics of requests/fics relating to the last time I did this are not encouraging, but. Well, I'll try. I promise.

I have an absolute MONSTER of a Sirius/James fic. It is over 10,000 words long. It stood at about 3,000 on Saturday and I would have posted it, but lj was on the fritz so I took it as a sign and just carried on writing. I did not envisage it ending up *quite* this long.
This is, quite literally, the fic that ate my brain. And my weekend. And when I say 'weekend'? I mean Thursday, Friday and Monday, too. This is five days' worth of angst and boy!love and questionable punctuation. Which is the other thing: this is unbeta'd. So, er, beware.

I've written something rather disturbing. Not that disturbing. Not as disturbing as, say, a het cowboy AU starring Dumbledore and Mrs Norris. But still.

Erm, I know I owe loads of people ficlets, and I am working on them, I promise. But this little fic was just gnawing away at my brain and I couldn't ignore it. It's Sirius/James...again. They have invaded my brainspace. One day I will actually write my OTP, I swear. But it is not this day. This day I write more dialogue-heavy fic in which nothing really happens.

I have been more productive (fandom-wise) over these last few days than I have been over the last few months. Newcomers, I don't want to give you the false impression that I actually do stuff. A lot of the time, I do nothing and am hideously absent and boring. Just a warning!
Having said all that, I have just finished a short fic.

I am bored. I have a lot of work that I should be doing, and I need help avoiding it. I feel like writing something. So: give me something to write! Give me a pairing and words/themes/events to use. Though I definitely like a challenge, if you suggest something shudder-inducingly awful (such as Ron/Hat using the verb "to badger") it is likely that I will pretend not to have seen it.
But otherwise, GO MAD!
Procrastination is the mother of invention :)

Firstly: hello to all you lovely people that I've met through
mctabby's friending thing. Am looking forward to getting to know you all!
So. Here is a sketch of young Messr. Lupin. And when I say sketch, that is exactly what I mean. My scanner has certainly not helped the smudginess of it all, but I would be lying if I said that it was perfect to begin with. Anyway, there's something about his expression that makes it Remus for me; and this is by far the closest I've ever come to recreating the image I have of him in my mind. And in case you haven't guessed from all this incomprehensible babble, I am somewhat of a Remusophile. Oh yes.
P.S please excuse the half-arsedness of his feet/shoes. I am a bad and lazy artist *hides*

So. It appears that I have an obsession preoccupation with Sirius and all things Black family. I did this sketch last night in a fit of midnight creativity. It is not perfect. And my scanner has smudgified it a little. Stupid scanner. But nonetheless, I quite like it.

Am embarking upon part II of my adventures in fandom. Have returned, full-circle, to HP Slash; and have finally succumbed to the many temptations of fanart.
I'll admit that I have absolutely no idea how to make digital, computer-y art, and thus this is hand-drawn. In pencil. Kinda sketchy.
Anyway, this is my first shot at fanart, and my first HP slash-related thing in a helluva long time. Any feedback/crit welcomed!
